It takes a lot for over 400 blue-collar workers to walk off the job in an economy like this, especially when the powerful industry they are standing up to is none other than Walmart and the Wall Street titans whose profit-before-people ideology prop up the 1%. But that’s exactly what’s happened on January 30 at the Port of Seattle. Now they need our help to succeed.
Armed only with homemade signs that read “We Are One” and “Safety + Fairness for All,” these ordinary workers – America’s extraordinary truck drivers –are asking for your support.
Will you make an emergency donation below to help them keep food on the table at home, so they can fight for what is right in the streets?
Millions and millions of dollars worth of cargo belonging to the multinational corporations isn’t moving. And that is having a huge impact on the global trucking and shipping industry that shortcuts public safety and shortchanges its workers all in the name of their bottom line.
No one should be exposed to hazardous conditions or endure humiliating treatment in order to have a job or collect a paycheck. Make a contribution of $10, $25, $50 or whatever you can afford so they can keep fighting for their families and a better future for every worker in America.
Let’s show the mega-corporations companies who use our public ports like Goldman Sachs’ SSA Marine, the giant, Seattle-based global terminal operator, that workers aren’t disposable, the community stands with the port truck drivers, and we’ve all had enough.
